Gerald A. Carr, 66, of Little Compton, passed away at home, surrounded by his loving family, on Sunday, July 7, 2013. He was the husband of Ann A. (Walker) Carr.
Born in Fall River, son of Hazel E. (Manchester) Carr and the late Edwin A. Carr he had resided in Little Compton for most of his life. Mr. Carr was a United States Navy veteran serving in the Vietnam War and later serving in the Navy Reserves. He worked for Raytheon and for H.N. Wilcox Fishing Co. out of Sakonnet Point. He built his own boat, a 28 foot dragger and worked as a commercial fisherman for most of his life. He was an able-bodied seaman with the Coast Guard and will be truly missed by his family and friends.
Survivors along with his wife and mother include 3 sons: Wilfred R. Carr and Robert J. Carr both of Little Compton and James H. Carr of Tiverton; 1 daughter: Laurel A. Carr of Little Compton; 1 brother: Wayne A. Carr of Little Compton; 2 sisters: Linda M. Albernaz of Middletown and Nina L. Carter of Portsmouth; 9 grandchildren: Robert, Jr., Mikhayla, Wilfred, Jr., Leaven, Hayden, Ellie, Walker, Caleb and Lileigh as well as several nieces and nephews.
Memorial service to which relatives and friends are invited will be Saturday, July 20, 2013 at Bliss Four Corners Church on 1264 Stafford Rd., Tiverton, RI at 11:00 A.M.
Interment will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Tiverton.
