Obituary

Worcester – Constance M. (Waitkus) Bedard, 93, of Worcester, died on Saturday, July 6th in the Lutheran Home with her family by her side.

Mrs. Bedard was married for 66 years to the late Edward F. Bedard, who died in 2006. She is survived by her 4 daughters, Christine A. Everest and her husband Wallace of Marblehead, MA, Carita M. Fontaine of Barre, Constance R. Kelly and her husband John of Worcester and Donna A. Gilbert and her husband Charles of Palmer, MA; 13 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. Constance was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Anthony and Elizabeth Waitkus and is also predeceased by a daughter Cynthia Bedard, who died in 2002 and 4 sisters and a brother.

Mrs. Bedard graduated from Commerce High School in 1936. She was a longtime member of Our Lady of the Angels Church, and volunteered her time as a Eucharistic Minister and visiting parishioners that were in local nursing homes. Connie also spent time volunteering at the former Worcester City Hospital in the Lending Library. She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed crocheting, knitting, cooking and spending time with her family. Mrs. Bedard was a longtime active participant of the Night Life Education Program for many years.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff and volunteers, especially Penny at the Lutheran Home for all of the loving care and support that was given to Connie and her family during her final years.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, July 11th from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church 1222 Main St. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, July 10th from 5 to 8 PM in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of ones choice.
