Mr. Thomas S. Bromander, resident of Andover, formerly of Wilmington, MA, beloved husband of Cheryl A. (Walker) Bromander and father to Ryan and Evan, died peacefully on July 2, 2013. He was 56 years old.
Born in Stoneham, MA he was the beloved son of Rosemarie (Kahler) Bromander of Wilmington, MA and the late Sidney J. Bromander. Tom graduated Wilmington High School in 1975 and graduated U Lowell Engineering School with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He went on to lead a distinguished career in engineering and operations in medical devices. Throughout his career he was instrumental in developing new products used in cardiology, drug delivery, biopharma, GERD, and robotic surgery and had many fond memories of his time at Focal where he spent 7 years before it was sold to Genzyme. Most recently he had been working at Philips Healthcare in Andover, MA where he was setting up a global supply chain operation, a job he loved because he got to "poke his nose in a lot of areas".
Tom,a gifted athlete, loved golf, skiing, baseball and hockey but he especially enjoyed watching his two sons Ryan and Evan play sports. In his later years he developed a love of painting.
Besides his wife Cheryl, and his sons Ryan T. Bromander and Evan M. Bromander, both of Andover, he will be missed by his mother Rosemarie of Wilmington, his brother Roy and wife Judi of Salem, NH, brother Edward of Tewksbury, niece and nephews, Stefanie, Kyle and Eddie, brothers-in-law Robert, Michael, John, Paul and Mark Walker and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
His Christian burial was celebrated in St. Augustine's Parish, 43 Essex St., Andover, MA on Wednesday, July 10 at 9:30 am. Many relatives and friends attended. Calling hours were held in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main St., Andover, on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 from 4-8 pm. Interment was held in the West Parish Garden Cemetery in Andover.
