Peter J. Currul, age 70, of Milford, died Thursday July 4, 2013 at home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Peter was the husband of Frances (DeLucia) Currul of Milford. They recently celebrated forty-six wonderful years of marriage together. He was the cherished father of three daughters, Betsy (Currul) Radcliffe and her husband Craig of Hopedale, Katie Currul-Dykeman and her husband Scott of Sharon, and Krissy (Currul) Chestna and her husband Wayne of Holliston. Peter was the adored Papa of seven grandchildren: Colin, Oliver, Aiden, Patrick, Evangeline, Atticus and Sabrina.
Peter grew up in Roslindale. He was the son of the late Robert and Mildred (Furlong) Currul and is survived by his sister Margaret Currul of Harwich, Robin (Currul) Fujimoto of Mission Viejo, California and James Currul of Arlington.
A 1960 graduate of Christopher Columbus High School in Boston, MA he then went on to graduate from Northeastern University with a degree in Business Administration in 1966.
Soon after graduation, Peter was deployed to Chu Lai where he served as a Second Lieutenant for the US Army in the Vietnam War in 1967. After returning to the United States in 1968, he worked for over thirty years as a sales manager in the food industry where he enjoyed years of traveling.
Peter enjoyed long walks on the beach and relaxing with a good book. You could usually find him watching the Boston Red Sox, golfing, or spending time with his wife whom he adored and their family. Peter was a courageous man who looked for the bright side of every situation and was an inspiration to those who knew him. He will be dearly missed.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday July 9 in St. Mary’s Church, Franklin at 10:00.
Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be on Tuesday from 8:30 - 9:45 a.m. in the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 131 Main Street in Franklin.
