James E. Chambers, Jr.
Retired Boston Globe Foreman

TEWKSBURY: James E. Chambers, Jr., age 76, a resident of Tewksbury for 37 years, passed away at the Blaire House of Tewksbury on Tuesday, July 2, 2013.
He was the beloved husband of Maureen E. (Martin) Chambers, with whom he would have celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary on July 11.
Born in Waltham on November 18, 1936, he was the son of the late James E. Chambers and the late Doris (Allaire) McGettrick.
James was raised in Waltham. He attended the St. Charles Parochial Grammar School and graduated from St. Charles High School.
Prior to his retirement in 2004, he was employed as Assistant Maintenance Supervisor by the Boston Globe Newspaper Company in Billerica, where he worked for 20 years. James previously worked for Record and Statistical Printing Company of Dorchester.
James was a communicant of St. William's Church in Tewksbury and was a former member of the Tewksbury-Wilmington Elks Lodge # 2070.
He was an avid New England Sports fan, and loved watching the Celtics, Patriots and Red Sox.
James enjoyed traveling with his wife and family to Maine and Florida, and cruise trips to Bermuda.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children, Karen L. Pruy and her husband James of Waltham, John M. Chambers and his wife Desiree of Port St. Lucie, FL, James P. Chambers of Waltham, Richard J. Chambers and his wife Maureen of Wakefield, and Kristin K. Chambers of Tewksbury; also eight grandchildren, and twelve great grandchildren.
Calling hours will be Sunday, July 7, from 4-8 p.m., in the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. His funeral will be held Monday, July 8, at 9 a.m., from the funeral home , followed by his Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. William's Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Interment at Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Adult Day Health, Attn: Cindy Barcellos, 10 Erlin Terrace, Tewksbury, MA 01876.
