MMaria L. Mendoza, 83, of Worcester, died July 2nd in her home. She is survived by two sons, Alex and Juan David Vega, both of California; three daughters, Carmen Segarra of Worcester and Lucy Leaman and Christine Berrios both of California; a brother, David Perez of Worcester and a sister, Luz Perez of New Jersey; nine grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren a great-great-granddaughter and many nephews and nieces. Her daughter, Martha L. Vega and three brothers, Heriberto, Eliezer and Ruben Perez predeceased her.
She was born in Fajardo, Puerto Rico the daughter of Eduardo Rivera and Martha Burgos. Mrs. Mendoza had worked as a nurse for many years in Puerto Rico working with cancer patients. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting attending church and singing in the church choir.
Her funeral is Monday, July 8th with a service at 10:00 a.m. in O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue; burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday, July 7th from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
