Mary A. Murphy, 90 years, a lifelong resident of Brockton died July 2, 2013 in the Braemoor Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility Brockton. She was the daughter of the late John F. and Mary (Frier) Murphy Jr. Mary was a graduate from Brockton High School; and following school worked for many years for the Brockton VA Hospital retiring more than 20 years ago.
She was a former communicant of St. Patrick’s Church and since the 70’s of Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Mary had a great love of music and is known to have a song for each of her friends and family. She enjoyed the piano and played in both Our Lady of Lourdes and the Braemoor Nursing Home.
Mary is survived by her sister Grace Nelson and her husband Herbert of Whitman; her brother Walter of Florida; a very dear friend Patricia Baylor as well as many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late John F. Murphy III.
Mary’s family would like to recognize a dear friend; Arnold Rozen whom Mary has known and cared for since he was a child. Arthur never forgot Mary and would visit her whenever his travels brought him to the Brockton area. Although Mary had no children; Arnold was like a son and she always enjoyed his company and attention.
Visitation will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Friday 8:30 – 9:30am, immediately followed by a funeral mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 10am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery.
