Lorraine T. (Cashman) Charlebois age 87, of Brockton died Monday July 1, 2013 at the New England Sinai Hospital. She was the wife of the late George P. Charlebois, Jr. Lorraine was born and raised in Brockton a daughter of the late John H. and Beatrice (Poudrier) Cashman and remained a lifelong resident of the city. A 1944 graduate of Brockton High School, Lorraine graduated from the Mass. Memorial Hospital School of Nursing as a member of the cadet nurses corps.
Lorraine retired in 1988 from the New England Sinai Hospital where she joined the staff in 1974 with the opening of the hospital. Previously she worked at the Brockton Hospital and helped open the ICU and CCU departments. In her free time she enjoyed knitting, crocheting and crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed time with her Wednesday night card group that had been together since the early 1950s. Lorraine’s true joy in her life was her family, especially spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Lorraine was the mother of Paulette A. Riordan and her husband Kevin of Raynham; Jeanne M. Mitchell and her husband Steven of Stoughton; Stephen J. Charlebois husband of the late Cheryl of Brockton and Peter A. Charlebois of Brockton. She leaves 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was the middle sister of the late Lt. John H. Cashman (killed in WWII) Geneva Cashman, Patricia Robichaud, Jeanne Lawton, George Cashman and Donald Cashman.
Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Friday 4-8 pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home on Saturday at 8 am for a funeral Mass in Christ the King Church at 9 am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery.
