DEWEESE, Virgia Lavon (Skaggs), 87, passed away July 1, 2013. Virgia was born September 13, 1925 in Asphalt, KY and was the last surviving of 10 children from the union of Blane Skaggs and Dora (Vincent) Skaggs. She was retired from the Army Ammunition Plant in Charlestown, IN after 19 years of service. Virgia was an avid gardener and loved her roses. She was a Baptist by faith and a member of the Sweeden Baptist Church in Sweeden, KY. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Deweese, after 53 years of marriage, and their only son, Lawrence “Alan” Deweese. Virgia is survived by her daughter-in-law, Cheryl Briscoe of Dublin, OH; several nieces and nephews and specials friends, Bob White, Don Knight and Bruce Barnes, who care for her. Funeral services will be held 1pm Friday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway, with burial in Louisville Memorial Gardens, West. Visitation will be Friday after 10am until the service at the funeral home.
