Mrs. Kora (Hanakam) Silva, of East Taunton, died Friday, June 28 at her residence following a period of failing health. A war bride, she was the beloved wife of the late John K. Silva. She was born 91 years ago in Czechoslovakia, the daughter of the late Joseph and Teresa (Kohl) Hanakam. She was educated in Czechoslovakia and immigrated to the United States, living for a time in Rhode Island before moving to the Taunton area in 1948. Prior to her retirement, she had been employed by the former Thompson Box Co. of Taunton for 4 years. She was previously employed as a weaver at the former Ansonia Mills in East Taunton for 18 years. She was a member of the C.I.F. Union. Kora enjoyed camping and traveling with her late husband. She was a member of the Wat Nawamintararachutis Meditation Center.
She leaves: A nephew: Bruce E. Silva of Arizona, and several other nieces and nephews in Europe. She also leaves a number of dear friends.
At her request, funeral services and interment will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home of Taunton.
