Age 92 of St. Paul
Passed away at home peacefully on Sunday, June 30, surrounded by his loving family. Preceded in death by brothers John & William; sisters Lois Schmitt, Marion Farrell & Catherine Budewitz. Survived by wife of 65 years, Isabella; children Robert E., Jr. (Maggie), Kathleen (fiance Mark Schannach) and Edward; grandchildren Cheryl, Michael & Thomas (Rachael); 4 great grandchildren; brother Richard (Jane); sisters Florence Novak & Geraldine Budewitz. Served 10 years in the U.S. Marine Corps (WWII & Korea) and 19 years as a Red Cross volunteer transportation driver. He was named WCCO Radio's Good Neighbor twice and received the President's Call to Service Award for his Red Cross work. Mass of Christian Burial Monday (7/8) at 10:00 AM at ST. THOMAS THE APOSTLE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2119 Stillwater Avenue East, St. Paul. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Visitation Sunday (7/7) from 2-5:00 PM at SANDBERG FUNERAL HOME, 2593 E. 7th Avenue, North St. Paul and one hour before the Mass at church on Monday. Memorials preferred to the Red Cross.
