WORCESTER____Helen B. (Spiewak) Leszczynski, 79, of 4 A Ruth St., died Monday August 23 in St.Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center. Her husband, William J. Leszczynski died April 29, 2000.
She leaves a daughter, Katherine L. Kenney of Quincy; a son, Brigadier General William J. Leszczynski, Jr., U.S. Army(Ret.) and his wife Jennifer of Paris, France; a brother, Felix S. Spiewak and a sister, Sophie T. Pendergast, both of Worcester; she is survived by three grandchildren, Michael P. Kenney of Quincy; Kristan A. Brown of Colorado Springs, CO., and 2LT. Peter J. Leszczynski of Fort Benning, GA., and many nephews and nieces. Two sons died before her, Worcester Police Sgt. John Leszczynski of Shrewsbury died in 1998 and David Leszczynski died in 1956. A grandson, Joseph Leszczynski died in 1980. She was also predeceased by two brothers and two sisters, Chester Spiewak, Walter Spiewak, Stasia Mattrick and Loretta Obizinski. She was born in Worcester, daughter of John and Katherine (Banach) Spiewak and lived here all her life.
Mrs. Leszczynski worked many years for the College of the Holy Cross in the cafeteria and at the Hogan Center. She retired several years ago. She was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Church and the American Ex Prisoners of War, Central Mass. Chapter.
The funeral will be held on Thursday August 26 from HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Charles Borromeo Church, 341 June St. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours in the funeral home are Wednesday August 25 from 5 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Charles Borromeo Church, 341 June St., Worcester, 01602.
