Obituary

Luella A. (Mace) McSweeney, age 82, of East Wareham, formerly of Brockton, died Saturday, June 29, 2013 at Tobey Hospital. She was the wife of the late Robert F. McSweeney. Born in Weymouth, she was raised in Abington, daughter of the late Lyman F. and Mildred D. (Kramer) Mace. Luella’s life was centered around her faith and family. She served the Catholic Church for over 50 years, most recently as a member of the 3rd Order of Franciscan Friars and an active member of the Chapel of Our Savior for over 20 years. Over the years, her service to the church included roles as a religious educator, teaching youth CCD and adult 3rd Order Franciscan classes, as a Eucharistic Minister, and as an assistant in the Chapel of Our Savior Gift Shop. She was also a devoted wife, mother and grandmother with a wonderful sense of humor.

She is survived by her children Kevin McSweeney, Susan Walker, Donna Gray, Brian McSweeney and Rita Williams; 12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren, brother Richard Mace, and 5 nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Luann Starks and sister of the late Stanley and Preston Mace.

Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Monday 4-7pm. Funeral Mass Tuesday at 12 noon in St. Patrick Church, 82 High Street, Wareham, followed by burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Taunton. In lieu of flowers, donations in Luella’s name may be made to the Chapel of Our Savior, 475 Westgate Drive, Brockton, MA 02301.
