Obituary

GLOUCESTER: Carlo “Sleepy” Pallazola, 76, died Saturday, June 29, 2013, surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of the late Joan (Grant) Pallazola who died in July 2012. They shared fifty-one years of marriage.
Born in Gloucester on May 6, 1937, he was the son of the late Clemente and Philippa (Nicastro) Pallazolo. He was a lifelong resident of the Fort Square section of Gloucester.
“Sleepy” was employed at Gorton’s of Gloucester for seventeen years before his retirement in the late 1980’s. He was also a commercial fisherman aboard the fishing vessels, “Serafina N” and the “Rockaway.”
A St. Peter’s Fiesta legend, he was the 1956 greasy pole champion and was a champion seine boat scuttler. The Fiesta was his inspiration and motivation for life. It was always about family, friends, tradition and heart. He was a lifelong member of the St. Peter’s Club and a former member of the Gloucester Lodge of Elks, No. 892.
He is survived by his four devoted daughters, Carla Pallazola and her fiancé, Louie Aliberti, Leeanne Pallazola, Janelle Puopolo and her husband, Jay and Jaime Mejia and her husband, Eddie; devoted grandfather to his three grandchildren, Erica, Jake and Kyle Casucci; two brothers, Jerry Pallazolla and his wife, Betty and Cliffy Palazzola and his wife, Dale; two sisters, Mamie Dimock and Fina Cranston and her husband, Bernie; family friend and his home health aid, Amanda “Pam” Sponagle and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. A special thank you to his godchild, Amy Gilson Favalora for all her loving care. He was also predeceased by a brother, Jimmy Pallazola and an infant sister.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday in Holy Family Parish, St. Ann Church, Pleasant St., Gloucester at 10:30 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester from 4 -8 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Interment will be held in Calvary Cemetery, Gloucester.
