Robert J. Broadbent, Jr., 80, died Friday, June 28, 2013 at Heberts Nursing Home in Smithfield. He was the husband of the late Joan B. (Cunningham) Broadbent. They were married for 54 years until her death in 2011.
Born in Smithfield, he was the son of the late Robert J. Sr., and Iola (Payette) Broadbent. He lived in Smithfield his entire life.
Mr. Broadbent was a steam fitter for Local #51 before retiring and was a Navy veteran. He was a member of the Wallum Lake Rod and Gun Club.
He is survived by two daughters Diane M. Hague and Mary-Jo DelleFemine both of Smithfield, three grandchildren; Gallison Brown, Megan Desnoyers and Steven Hague, two great grandchildren: Skye and Sean Kelly. He was the sister of the late Doreen Chadbourne.
Funeral Monday at 8:30am from the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville. Burial with military honors in Acotes Hill Cemetery, Chepachet. Visitation Sunday 4-7pm.
