John S. Bova, Sr., a long-time Medford resident died unexpectedly on Saturday evening at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital. He was 66.
John was born in Boston’s North End, the son of the late Gaetano and the late Margaret (Carangelo) Bova. As a boy he moved with his family to Medford where he attended local schools. He served in the Army during the Vietnam Era. Upon his return to Medford, he was employed by the City until he went to work at the US Post Office, Waltham General Mail Facility. He recently retired after a 30 year career. John was a warm and kind friend to many who loved the company of his family.
The beloved husband of Marie (Santoro), he leaves his children: Janet Manning and her husband Michael of Malden, Richie Amico of Tenn., John Bova, Jr. and his wife Nicole of Billerica and Christina Santosuosso and her husband Steven of Billerica. John was a loving grandfather to Alisha, Kimberly, Anthony, Joseph and Vanessa. The brother of Tom, Teresa, Maria Bova and Nancy Nicotra, he also leaves many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may visit Wednesday, June 26th from 4 thru 8 PM at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford and again on Thursday morning at 9 followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Raphael Church, 512 High Street, Medford at 10 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery.
