Catharine D. (Smith) Hutchinson, 78, of Mattapoisett died August 20, 2004 at Sippican Healthcare Center after a brief illness.
She was the wife of the late Edwin Fuller Hutchinson.
Born in Amsterdam, NY, daughter of the late Leland and Catharine (Finlayson) Smith, she lived in Lexington, MA for many years. She had summered near the ocean in Chatham and Mattapoisett for many years before becoming a permanent resident of Mattapoisett in 1980.
She was a member of the Mattapoisett Congregational Church.
Mrs. Hutchinson was a member of the Mattapoisett Womens Club, the Mattapoisett Garden Club and the Lexington Book Club. She enjoyed history, politics and art. Gardening and swimming were among her favorite activities.
Survivors include 2 sons, Leland C. Hutchinson of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin and James M. Hutchinson of Plainville, MA; 4 grandchildren, Hallie Ann Hutchinson of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, Timothy F. Hutchinson, Ian F. Hutchinson and Lee M. Hutchinson, all of Plainville, MA.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Memorial Service in the Mattapoisett Congregational Church Wednesday, August 25th at 2 PM.
Visiting hours are omitted.
Interment in Westview Cemetery, Lexington will be private.
