DUDLEY –Carol Ann Collins, 64, of Niwot, CO, formerly of Dudley, passed away Sunday, June 2, 2013 in the TRU Hospice Center, Louisville, CO after a courageous 14 year battle with cancer.
She leaves 2 sisters, Nancy Roy of Dudley and Kathleen Puliafico and her husband Mark of Woodstock, CT; 2 nephews, godson Scott Roy of Dudley, and Jeffrey Roy and his wife Sandy and their children Kyle and Kaitlyn of Indian Trail, NC; 5 nieces, Kimberly (Roy) Fryer and her husband Jeffrey and their sons Ryan and Christopher of Southington, CT, Angela (Puliafico) Biondi and her husband Scott and their son Colin of Tolland, CT, Maura (Puliafico) Drake and her husband David and their children Nathaniel and Luciana of Manhattan, KS, Lindsay (Puliafico) Frazier and her husband Casey and their son Kellan of Summerville, SC, and Alicia Puliafico of Woodstock. She also leaves aunts and an uncle, her godfather Edward Collins of Webster, and many cousins. Carol leaves her dedicated friends Patricia and Larry Murphy of Niwot, CO as well as Donna Bennett Adams and her family of Gill, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Roger Roy and by her godmother, Margaret (Smith) Collins.
She was born in Webster on January 19, 1949, and raised in Dudley, the second daughter of the late William J. and Sadie (Paholska) Collins. She graduated with honors from Bartlett High School in 1967 and earned a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of New Hampshire in 1971 where she was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society.
Upon graduating , Carol moved to Colorado, where she was employed in several retail establishments in the Boulder area.
She was active in many organizations, including EST and Windstar. Carol championed environmental causes all her life. She enjoyed knitting and sewing.
Carol will be most remembered for her unselfishness and her kindness to others.
The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Rocky Mountain Cancer Center in Boulder for their professional and compassionate care for Carol during her illness.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 29, at 10:00 AM in Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main Street, Webster. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Dudley. A calling period will be from 8:30 to 10:00 AM Saturday, June 29, in the funeral home.
