Obituary

ROCHESTER — Benjamin Mallory Brewer passed away quietly on May 16, 2013. He was the devoted husband of Beverly Ann (Gilmore) Brewer for 55 years. A lifetime of shared work and love.

Born in Biltmore, North Carolina, the son of Dr. James F. Brewer Jr. and Lila Mallory Brewer, formerly of New Bedford, MA. He was predeceased by his brother James F. Brewer III. He is survived by his sister Elizabeth Brewer Davis of Framingham, Massachusetts.

He loved his children. Christopher and Christine Brewer of Rochester, MA, Charlotte and Michael Lizotte of New Bedford, MA, Cathyann Peng of Acworth, Georgia and Charles Brewer of Rochester, MA. They will miss their father sorely for a while and remember him loving for their lifetime.

Ben loved his grandchildren. They will each grieve in their own way as they remember him and grow to love him for all his strength: Jessica Brewer, Blake, and Brent Brewer; Crystal and Kaitlyn Lizotte; Megan, Jonathan, and Logan Peng. The littlest great-grandchild London Grace Brewer joining his family last Christmas, that was special.

Ben is survived by seven nieces and nephews: Kimberly Brewer, Jimmy's daughter; Susan, Heidi, Stephanie who will not be forgotten; Rachel, Jacob, Rebecca, and Sarah, Beth's children.

He graduated from Wilbraham Academy, New Bedford High School; attended Baylor University in Waco, TX. Ben remained a student all of his lifetime. He loved to read, he was a detailed oriented man. His sons and daughters will always remember his saying "look it up, read the directions," "get the dictionary/encyclopedia."

He served in the U.S. Army in WWII. He was a member of the First Congregation Church of Rochester, MA. A Senior Past Master of Paskamansett Lodge AF & AM since 1962. Always a worker whose first job at the age of 16 was at Hartley's Lumber Mill in Rochester, MA. Employed by Morse Twist Drill, Sippican Corporation, Texas Instruments, IG&G Sealol. He retired from Raytheon Corporation. He enjoyed his co-workers and referred to them as friends and remained in touch.

Ben loved to cycle, rode his Raleighs many miles and taught his children, grandchildren, and wife to ride. He loved his cameras too; fortunately we have many pictures and memories to treasure. God Blessed Ben, He called him home before we were ready for him to leave us.

Funeral arrangements will be by the Wilson Chapel on Tuesday July 2, 2013, for a private graveside service at Massachusetts National Cemetery Bourne.
