CHICOPEE – Don E. Clark, Sr., 77, of Chicopee was Called Safely Home on Monday, June 17, 2013. He passed into Eternal Life from his home surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family who were his devoted caregivers. He was born at home on Lawndale Street in the Willimansett section of Chicopee on March 3, 1936, a beloved son of the late George R. and Marguerite V. (Myette) Clark. He was raised in Chicopee and was a lifelong resident of the city. At a young age to help support the family, Don peeled apples at Southier’s Pie Shop in Chicopee. He enlisted in the United States Air Force and served his country during the Korean War as a Military Policeman, attained the rank of Airman Second Class and received the National Defense Service Medal. Following his military service, he returned to Chicopee and was employed by the City Eavestrough Company in Feeding Hills. He later worked for Bickford Aluminum Company in Springfield and then purchased the company in 1977. He established Clark & Sons Seamless Gutter Company in Chicopee which is now operated by his sons. Active in the community, Don, along with his family, was a longtime sponsor of the Clark & Sons Candlepin Bowling Team. Don was an avid golfer and a die hard Patriots, Red Sox, Bruins and Celtics fan. Don thoroughly enjoyed bantering with his brother-in-law, Dick, while watching sports, especially when the New York Giants played. He treasured his weekly trips to the Foxwoods Casino to meet up with his many friends. He was a member of the Fairview Council 4044 Knights of Columbus in Chicopee and a longtime communicant of the former Saint Mary of the Assumption Church in Chicopee. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Mildred P. “Millie” (Trbovich) Clark. They were married on May 16, 1964 at Holy Name of Jesus Church in Chicopee and were blessed with just over 49 years of happiness together. He also leaves his three loving sons, Don E. Clark, Jr. of Chicopee, John M. Clark of Westhampton, and Alan J. Clark of Belchertown; his two cherished grandsons, Tanner J. and Samuel J. Clark; his two dear brothers, Charles Clark and his wife, Maxine, and Ronald Clark and his wife, Noreen, all of Chicopee; his eight dear sisters, Alice Gosselin and her husband, Donald, of Chicopee, Frances Theroux and her husband, Robert, of Holyoke, Patricia Przybyla and her husband, Joseph, of Chicopee, Eileen Urian and her husband, Richard, of Enfield, CT, Loretta Puduski and Ronna “Cookie” Ethier and her husband, David, all of Chicopee, Eleanor Piotrowski and her husband, Karol, of Plantsville, CT, and his dear sister and godchild, Renee Burns of Chicopee; his dear sister-in-law, Doris Clark of South Hadley; and his many dear nephews and nieces. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his dear brother, George R. Clark who was Called Home on March 22, 2012; and his dear brothers-in-law, Donald Puduski and Jeffrey Burns. His funeral will be held on Friday morning, June 21, 2013 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020 (funeral home will open at 7:45 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His Committal Service with United States Air Force Military Honors will follow the Mass at 11 a.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, June 20, 2013 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His family has requested that memorial donations be made in his memory to the Shriners Hospital for Children, (Springfield), 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
