Obituary

Loretta C. (LaJeunesse) Dispensa, 94, of Winchester, formerly a longtime resident of Haverhill, passed away June 16, 2013 at her daughter’s home in Winchester.

Born in Claremont, NH, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Sophie (Wright) LaJeunesse. Loretta was raised and educated in Haverhill, and she graduated from Haverhill High School with the class of 1938. Mrs. Dispensa lived in New York during WWII was employed as an assembler at Western Electric, where she worked on mine detectors during WWII, and returned to Haverhill in the late 1940’s, where she continued to work for Western Electric. Loretta was also employed by the IRS processing tax returns and was a Home Health aide for the VNA of Haverhill.

In her spare time, Loretta enjoyed walking, gardening and travel.

She was the beloved mother of Linda M. Dispensa of Winchester and Leonard J. Despensa and his wife Phyllis of Methuen. She was also the dear mother-in-law of Marie Despensa of Somersworth, NH and grandmother to Aaron Russo and his wife Catherine of Somersworth, NH, Andrew Russo and his wife Jen of Rochester, NH, and Ian and Evan Holdstock of Winchester, MA. She is also survived by 4 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and her cousin Paul Belyea of Dunbarton, NH. She was the wife of the late Harry Dispensa of Haverhill and longtime companion of the late Vincent O’Keefe of Methuen. A Memorial Service will be held at the Parish of the Epiphany 70 Church St., Winchester on Saturday, June 22 @ 2PM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Burial is private. If desired, donations in Loretta’s memory may be made to the Winchester Mount Vernon House, 110 Mount Vernon St. Winchester, MA 01890.
