BEVERLY: Mary G. (McCraven) Buchanan, 87, beloved wife of Joseph A. Buchanan, Sr. with whom she shared over sixty years of marriage, passed away June 11, 2013 after a lengthy illness.
Mary was a life long resident of Beverly and graduated from St. Mary’s High School. She was also a devout member of St. Mary Star of the Sea Church in Beverly and it’s Ladies’ Sodality. Prior to marrying she worked at United Shoe Machinery in Beverly. She is pre-deceased by her parents, Hugh and Margaret (McDonald) McCraven, her brothers Hugh McCraven Jr., Philip McCraven & Joseph McCraven and her nephew, Kirk McCraven.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Joseph A. Buchanan Jr. and his wife, Agnes (Novack) Buchanan of Salem; her daughters, Alice Buchanan McNeil of Salem, Kathleen (Buchanan) Novack and her husband, Raymond of Beverly and Mary Ellen (Buchanan) Fullerton and her husband, David of Beverly. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Kelly Novack of Beverly, Bonnie McNeil of Oakland, CA, Adam Fullerton of Somerville, Erica Novack of Hingham, Christopher McNeil of Anchorage, AK, Ryan Buchanan of Salem, and Tania Buchanan of Salem and also her nephews, Robert McCraven of Newbury, Mark Lutz of Wilmington and her niece Maureen (McCraven) Woodward of Ipswich.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday in the Grondin Funeral Home, 376 Cabot St., Beverly from 5 – 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Her funeral service will be private.
