WORCESTER-John J. Stanikmas, 54, of 68 Brigham Road, died suddenly at home on Sunday, August 15th after a 10 month struggle with cancer. He leaves his parents, Norman B. and Irene I. (Cassidy) Stanikmas, 2 brothers, Norman B. Stanikmas, Jr. of Worcester and Mark D. Stanikmas of W. Brookfield, a sister, Mary-Beth Stanikmas of Worcester, 7 nephews, 5 nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was born in Worcester, graduated from South High School and attended Springfield Technical Community College. Mr. Stanikmas worked for Blair Construction Company. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hiking in the White Mountains and previously lived in the south rim of the Grand Canyon where he hiked and camped along the Colorado River. He was an avid reader and enjoyed woodworking, carving and playing the guitar.
After cremation, a funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, August 25th at 10:00 AM in Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant Street. Interment of ashes will be at the convenience of the family.There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, New England Division, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
