Mrs. G. Virginia Smith, 80, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Monday, August 16, 2004, at Dorminy Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, August 20, 2004, at Arbor Baptist Church with Dr. Lloyd Stembridge and Rev. Tom Braziel officiating. Interment will follow in Arbor Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00, Thursday evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. Smith was born September 30, 1923 in Fulton County, Georgia, to Claude Leake and Carmen Earsel Jackson Smith. She was raised by William and Beulah Gaines. She lived in Fitzgerald most of her life and was co-owner of the Seafood Center on Pine Street. She was a former sales clerk at McClellan’s 5 & 10, a member of Rebekah Lodge, American Legion Auxiliary, and the Retired Railroad Club. Mrs. Smith was a member of Arbor Baptist Church and the Young at Heart.
Mrs. Smith is survived by two sons: Ronald Smith of Orange Park, Florida and Stanley Smith of Fitzgerald; 4 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Dorminy Smith and one sister, Francis Bishop.
