Edwin R. Luoma, 80 of 90 Chandler Road, Hartford, Vermont died Monday, August 16, in the Veteran's Affairs Medical Center, White River Junction, VT. His wife Laila L. (Mannila) Luoma died in 1993. He leaves a brother Henry J. Luoma of Buckley, WA, five sisters Martha S. Hyytiainen, Sylvia E. Forgit, Nancy O. Dorr all of Leicester, M. Evelyn Parker of Burlington, VT and M. Ruth Guilfoyle of Mashpee, MA and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by four brothers and one sister. Mr. Luoma was born in Worcester son of Jacob and Lydia (Alho) Luoma and lived in Rutland, MA before moving to Vermont in the 1960's.He worked in the maintenance department in the Veteran's Affairs Medical Center for 40 years before retiring in 1978. He served in the United States Air Force during World War II. He was a charter member of the V.F.W. Post in Rochdale. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, snow mobiling, gardening and restoring antique furniture. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 18 at 11:00 AM in MORRISON-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main Street, Leicester. Calling hours will be 10:00-11:00 AM Wednesday. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
