GLOUCESTER: Salvatore G. “Torrie” Ciaramitaro, 62, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 3, 2013, at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington.
Born in Gloucester on April 30, 1951, he was the son of Josephine (Randazza) Ciaramitaro and the late Paul J. Ciaramitaro.
Torrie was both a commercial and sport fisherman for much of his life. He fished with his father for many years aboard the F/V Barneget. He traveled coast to coast throughout his life fishing for all species, from Maine to Hawaii and from smelt to tuna. He could always be found at the State Fish Pier when the mackerel and stripers were in.
Once he became ill, he began making jewelry. He had stands at all the fairs and at St. Peter’s Fiesta. He also loved to vacation in Jamaica every year. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a brother Wayne, husband of Sharon Ciaramitaro; a sister, Roselle, wife of Gene LeClair; nieces and nephews including, Sharai and Eric; two aunts, Catherine and Nina Randazza; his godparents, Nina and Sophie Frontiero; stepchildren, Chad and Nicole Johnson; as well as many cousins and close friends. He was also predeceased by a brother, Paul J. Ciaramitaro.
His funeral service will be held on Saturday morning in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester at 11:30 a.m. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Please omit flowers.
