Obituary

In Boston, June 1, 2013 Patrolman Troy J. Medeiros, age 50 passed away in Brigham & Women’s Hospital, following a courageous battle with a lengthy illness. Troy was surrounded by his loving family and many close friends before his passing. He is survived by his loving wife Mary Ellen (Bianchi) Medeiros of Taunton. Troy was born in Taunton, the son of Cynthia (Costa) Medeiros of Taunton and his late father Horace Medeiros Jr. Troy was a graduate of Coyle & Cassidy High School and received his master’s degree from Anna-Maria College in Paxton, Ma. He fulfilled his lifetime boyhood dream by joining the Taunton Police Department in 1986 and served the people in multiple law enforcement roles, including patrol, community policing and vice. Troy also served as an election official on the City of Taunton’s Zoning Board. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and enjoyed fishing with his sons, working out at the gym, expressing how he felt about all matters of local and national politics and above all cherished his time with his family. Troy leaves his two sons Troy Jr. and Max, both of Taunton. His brother Cory Medeiros and his wife Karen of Taunton. Troy also is survived by several nieces and nephews and many close friends. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church in Taunton on Wednesday, June 5th at 11 am. Calling hours are omitted by the request of the family. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Taunton. Donations in Troy’s memory may be made in lieu of flowers to the Patrolman Troy J.
