WORCESTER-Rita F. (West) Benoit, 83 of 1315 Pleasant Street died Saturday, March 9th in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center. Her husband Joseph F. Benoit died in 1991. She leaves her nephew James M. West of Worcester, 3 step-daughters Eleanor M. Brennan and Wanita Tomanini both of Worcester and Judy Garvey of Phoenix, AZ, a great-nephew Jeremy M. West and a great-great-nephew Owen J. West.. Her brother Carlton H. West, and her 2 sisters Velnar West and Frances Johnson all predeceased her.
She was born in Worcester the daughter of Henry F. and Mabiel (Pettie) West and had lived here all her life. She was a graduate of Commerce High School, and had been employed as a bookkeeper for 40 years with Hall Manufacturing Corporation.
The funeral will be held Tuesday, March 12th from O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Andrew the Apostle Church, 5 Spaulding Street. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday, March 11th from 5:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
