
Shields, E. James “Jim” Jr., of Marshfield, passed away on May 28, 2013 at the age of 85. Beloved husband of the late Jean G. Shields. Loving father of Jim Shields of Marshfield, Mary Shields and her husband Jim McKinnell of Plymouth, Michael Shields and his wife Kerry of FL, Jean Milch and her husband James of Marshfield, and Susan Darian of Marshfield. Loving grandfather of Ryan, Conor, Tyler, Hunter, Emmi and Calleigh Shields, Jamie and Micaela Shields, Jessi and Tim Milch and Max and Noelle Darian. Great-grandfather of Aaden and Mason Shields. Dear son of the late Edward J. and Mildred (Sullivan) Shields. Dear brother of the late Mary (Chop) Price and David Shields. Survived by many special nieces and nephews and dear friends including Tony & Janet Ionta and Joe Walker. Jim was raised in Watertown. He was a graduate of the Massachusetts Maritime Academy Class of 1947 and served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy in the Korean War. A retired architect and longtime resident of Marshfield, Jim designed Marshfield Town Hall, St. Christine’s Church, St. Thecla’s and many other projects from homes across the South Shore to buildings across the country such as The Newport News in Newport RI and IBM in NY.
Visiting hours will be held at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean St., Rte. 139 in Marshfield on Sunday, June 2, 2013 from 1-5pm.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, June 3 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Christine’s Church, 1295 Main St., Rte. 3A in Marshfield.
Military Honors to be held directly after the mass at Cedar Grove Cemetery.
