Obituary

Charles Freddie “Charlie” Sullivan, 66, of Tifton died Thursday, May 30, 2013, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2013, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Conway Harris will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 31, 2013, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Mr. Sullivan was born on August 5, 1946 in Tift County and was the son of Curtis Franklin Sullivan and Clara Dauson Sullivan, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Eustice Sullivan, Curtis “C. J.” Sullivan, Bob Sullivan and infant Jonny Sullivan; and four sisters, Laverne Westmoreland, Mary Francis Daniels, Jeanette Stephens and Ruth Bohannon. He was a licensed general contractor and a member of Believers Baptist Church in Tifton.

Charles, known by many as “Rooster” enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He loved his wife, children and grandchildren. He was a proud Papa. Many hours were spent between him and his family watching Westerns together. Charles was a very caring, humble and giving man. He was known as a man that would give you the shirt off his back.

Mr. Sullivan is survived by his wife, Betty Newbern Sullivan of Tifton; three sons and daughters-in-law, David and Marshan Sullivan of Enigma, and their children, Julia, Madalyn and Holly; Tommy and Paula Sullivan of Tifton and their children, Brett and Brooklynn; and James and Heather Sullivan of Tifton and their children, Tyler, Shelby and Reese; his siblings and their spouses, Joe and Yolanda Sullivan of Deland, Florida, Betty Griffin of Tifton, Joyce and Wayne Mullis of Tifton, JoAnn and Bob Senecal of Bayville, New York, Bernice Harvey of Warner Robins, Allene Brewer of Lawrenceville and Wallace and Virginia Sullivan of Tifton; a special friend, who was like a sister, Quency Bryant of Ocilla; and his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Elaine and Brantley O’Neal of Albany, Faye and James Meders of Rocky Point, North Carolina and Gail and James Gray of Tifton.
