Mary (Korkidis) Marinakis, 91, of Worcester, died peacefully Tuesday, May 28th in Holy Trinity Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Her husband of 37 years Nick Marinakis died in 1985. She is survived by her daughter, Helen Panagiotopoulos and her husband, George of Shrewsbury and a son, George Marinakis and his wife, Ellen of New Milford, CT; four grandchildren, Nicole Smith and her husband, Kenneth, Peter Panagiotopoulos, Nicholas and Christina Marinakis; two great-grandsons, Nicholas and Michael Smith, who she adored. Five brothers, Manolis, Mantheos, John, George and Evangelos and two sisters, Erini and Antonia predeceased her.
She was born in Chania, Crete, Greece the daughter of Michael and Argyro (Karagianakis) Korkidis, moving to Worcester from Greece in 1948. Mrs. Marinakis was an active member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, its Senior Citizens, and very active participant in the Ladies Philoptochos Society. Some of her happiest times at the church were spent helping with baking and preparing of foods for the Grecian Festivals and many other social events. Her most precious times were those spent with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandsons and friends. She loved her church and heritage. Mary will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Calling hours are Thursday, May 30th from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester. Her funeral is Friday, May 31st from with a service at 11:00 a.m. in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery.
