Obituary

Miss Emelia K. Gwozdz, of Taunton, died Monday, May 27 in Taunton Nursing Home following a period of failing health. She was born 93 years ago in Taunton, the daughter of the late Antoni and Wictoria (Pienta) Gwozdz. She was educated in Taunton and was a lifelong city resident. Prior to her retirement, she had been employed as an attendant at the former Paul A. Dever State School for over 20 years. She was previously employed at the former Goodnow’s Clothing Store in Taunton for many years. She was also employed at the former Jordan Marsh Department Store in Boston. Emelia enjoyed gardening, cooking, oil painting and arts and crafts. She was a communicant of the Holy Rosary Church in Taunton.
She leaves: 2 brothers: Frank Gwozdz and his wife, Joan of Taunton, and Stephen Gwozdz and his wife, Patricia of Attleboro; 3 sisters: Josephine Pochask of Beverly, Helen Gwozdz of Taunton, and Rose Sullivan of Taunton, and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Mary Scovers, Walter, Bollack, John and Joseph Gwozdz.
Funeral services will be held from The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, on Friday, May 31 at 8:30 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in the Holy Rosary Church at 9:30 A.M. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held on Thursday, from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Expressions of sympathy in her memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
