William Grajales, 60, of New Bedford died Friday August 13, 2004 at St. Luke's Hospital.
Born in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, the son of Eufimia Pumarejo Ramos of New Bedford and Ignacio Grajales of Connecticut, he lived in New Bedford for most of his life.
Mr. Grajales was formerly employed as a mason with the Bricklayers and Masons Union Local #3, and also worked for the City of New Bedford.
Mr. Grajales served in the U.S. Marines Corps during the Vietnam War, and was a recipient of the Vietnam Service medal, the National Defense Service medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary medal, the Good Conduct medal and the Marksmanship badge.
He was a member the Andrews-Dahill Post 1531 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his parents; his former wife, Judith (Sylvia) Grajales of New Bedford, his stepfather, Rene Ramos of New Bedford; two sons, William Grajales, Jr., and Juan J. Grajales, both of New Bedford; four daughters, Vicki Durst of Pennsylvania, Tammy Grajales of New Bedford, and Katie Grajales and Alicia Grajales, both of Wareham; two brothers, Efrain Grajales and Ignacio Grajales, both of New Bedford; a sister, Elba Martinez of New Bedford; ten grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Carmelo Grajales and Manuel Grajales.
His Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday August 17, 2004 at 11 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park Street, New Bedford. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Monday August 16, 2004 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
