Obituary

Paul C. Sullivan of Needham, a retired Boston Firefighter died at his home on Friday August 13th. He was 76 years old. Mr. Sullivan was a graduate of Boston Public Schools and was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran. He was appointed to the Boston Fire Department on October 2, 1957. He served on the department for over 35 years, retiring on January 31, 1993. During his years on the Fire Department he worked on Engine-46, Engine-52 and spent much of his firefighting career on Engine-41 in Allston. Paul was a member of Boston Firefighter’s Local 718, IAFF, Society of St. Florian, The Boston Firemen’s Relief Fund, the Boston Firemen’s Mutual Relief Fund, the Liars Club, the Gaelic Society and VFW Post 669 in Allston. The beloved husband for 52 years of Shirley (Donlon), he was the father of Paula MacDonald of Dedham, Michael of Worcester, Thomas of Martha’s Vineyard and Gail Sullivan of North Reading. He was the brother of Robert of Hampton NH and the late Francis and Edward Sullivan. He was the cherished Grampa of 6 grandchildren. Funeral from the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Avenue Needham on Tuesday August 17 at 9:00 Am followed by a Funeral Mass at Saint Joseph Church at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours on Monday from 4-8 PM. Interment Saint Mary Cemetery Needham. In lieu of flowers donations in Paul’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street Framingham MA 01701.
