Eugene “Gene” Carroll, 75, passed away May 23, 2013 peacefully at his home with his family by his side. He was a retired truck driver, proud member of the Teamsters, proud Democrat and enjoyed playing pool. He was preceded in death by his parents Russia and Leslie Carroll; daughter, Leslie “Jeanie” Carroll; a great grand-daughter, Kinlee; brother, Leslie “Doodle” Carroll Jr.; sisters, Marlene Hagan and Madeline McGrew. Survived by his wife of 16 years, Peggy Carroll; daughter, Dona M Carroll-Payton (Darian); son, Jason M. Carroll (Tammy); and step-children, Shannon R. Smithson, Tonya N. Peyton, Fonda M. Hayes(Charles) and Jimmy N. Eaton Jr.; 19 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; brother, John David Carroll (Janet) and sister Diane S. Broy (Denny). Funeral service Sunday 10 A.M. at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway with burial in Jack Meredith Cemetery in Edmonson County, Ky. Visitation will be Saturday 1 P.M. until 8 P.M. at the funeral home.
