Obituary

George Spiliotis, Jr., of Dartmouth died August 11, 2004 peacefully at home. He was the husband of MaryLouise (McCarthy) Spiliotis.

Born and raised in New Bedford, the son of the late George and Olive (Sylvia) Spiliotis, he had lived in Lakeville before moving to Dartmouth.

Mr. Spiliotis was formerly employed as a business teacher at Dartmouth High School for many years. Prior to teaching, he had been a pharmaceutical sales representative for Warren Teed.

He was a member of the National Education Association and the Massachusetts Teachers Association.

Mr. Spiliotis served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.

An accomplished golfer, he played in many of the local Fourballs, winning the Allendale Fourball with Dr. Irving Weinshel and the Whaling City Fourball with John Foster. His golfing friends and partners will remember him for his attributes as a golfer that reflected his personality generally - steady, fearless and a straight shooter.

Survivors include his wife; and a son, Steven G. Spiliotis of Dartmouth.

A private Funeral Service was held on Friday morning, August 13th in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park Street, New Bedford. Burial followed in Acushnet Cemetery.
