Don E. Plackard, 88, of Anderson died May 16, 2013 at Alexandria Care Center after an extended illness.
He was born July 11, 1924 in Alexandria, to Marshall and Mary (Craig) Plackard.
He served in the US Marines during WW II.
He was self employed as an auto mechanic for 65 years. He loved flying.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Alexandria.
Survivors include his wife Caroline L. (Rodecap) Plackard of Alexandria whom he married in 2005; daughter Susan (Stephen R. ) Deines of Alexandria; son Dennis Lee (Dorothy Manis-Plackard) Plackard of Anderson; four step-children Al (Linda) Rodecap of Anderson; Charles Rodecap of Van Buren, IN; Don (Kathy) Rodecap of Noblesville, IN and Larry (Toby) Rodecap of Anderson; nine grandchildren, Chad (Kristie) Huff of Ft. Myers, FL; Dustin (Maggi) Huff; Robert Hunt and Andrew Hunt all of Marathon, FL; Damon Plackard of Indianapolis; Daron (Tami) Plackard of Kansas City, MO; Steffani (Dave) Walston of Indianapolis; Jodi Plackard of Anderson and Dawn (Doug) Beckner of Pendleton; twelve great grandchildren; several step-grandchildren and step great grandchildren;
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Betty L. Plackard; two sisters, Marilyn Frazier and Naomi McDonald
Graveside service will be at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, May 20, 2013 at East Maplewood Cemetery with Rev. Steve Gettinger officiating with Military graveside rites provided by VFW Post 266 Honor Guard. Visitation will be on Sunday, May 19, from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service.
