Obituary

Edna Walker Moore, 100, of Gainesville (formerly of Fitzgerald), died Sunday, May 12, 2013, at Halcyon Hospice House in Atlanta.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at the Little & Davenport Funeral Home Chapel in Gainesville. Graveside services will be held 11 AM, Friday, May 17, 2013 in the Evergreen Cemetery, Fitzgerald with the Rev. Dr. Lloyd Stembridge officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Thursday evening at Paulk Funeral Home in Fitzgerald.

Mrs. Moore was born August 27, 1912, in Irwin County, Georgia to the late George Franklin and Pearl Hobbs Walker. She was a homemaker and helped her husband at Moore’s Grocery in Fitzgerald. She was a former member of West Side Baptist Church. She moved to Gainesville in 1994 where she was active in the Red Hat Society and the Senior Citizens Center. She was a member of Sardis Baptist Church in Gainesville.

She is survived by her two sons: Emory V. Moore of McDonough and Earl & Ginger Moore of Gainesville; daughter: Shirley & Bob Sands of Blairsville; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren; and one sister: Joyce Zakro of Roswell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: George Washington Moore; five brothers; and three sisters.
