Obituary

Leona M. Belvin, 63 of Salem, died unexpectedly Friday, May 10, 2013 at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.

Born and raised in Newport News, Virginia, she was the daughter of Delma (Pugh) Belvin and the late James O. Belvin, II. Leona moved to Salem from Virginia, with her young family, in 1975. She first worked for Thermal Circuit and later for Vincent Potato Chip Co. both of Salem and for Bake & Joy Foods of Salem and in North Andover. Leona’s true avocation was for the caring of others. She was extremely devoted to her family and for those families and disabled seniors for whom she was a housekeeper, caregiver and companion. She will be greatly missed by her many friends in the greater Salem area.

She is survived by her mother Delma Belvin of New Point, VA, two sons, Lewis H. West, Jr. of Danvers, Kevin M. Dion of Salem, two sisters, Brenda Hudgins of Cardinal, VA and Janet Keith of Dutton VA, a brother, James O. Belvin, III of Deltaville, VA as well as nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Tammy Sue West.
