Worcester – Thomas J. Duquette, 81, of Worcester, died peacefully on Monday, May 13th in the Autumn Village Nursing Home after a long illness.
Tom leaves his wife of 61 years Solange “Sally” (LeRoy) Duquette; a son, Paul E. Duquette and his wife Donna of Worcester; three daughters, Debora A. Martin and her husband Michael of Holden, M. Diane Hehir of Worcester and Sandra R. Gagne and her husband Steven of Oxford; two brothers, Raymond Duquette PhD and his wife Doris of Bakersfield, CA and Donald Duquette and his partner Dan Bianco of Santa Rosa, CA; 10 grandchildren; 3 great granddaughters and many nephews and nieces.
Mr. Duquette was born in Gardner, son of the late Thomas J. Duquette, Sr. and Anna (Cormier) Duquette and is also predeceased by his sister, Arline Comee.
He served in the United States Army and was stationed in Korea during the Korean War. He was one of the original employee’s of the Jamesbury Corporation and was a foreman for many years before retiring in 1991 after 34 years of service. In retirement he volunteered his time to Jamesbury, by organizing trips and events for his fellow retirees and their family members.
Tom was the founder of the Quarter Century Club at Jamesbury and was a longtime member of Saint Joan of Arc Church and the Greendale Retired Mens Club. He enjoyed many things throughout his lifetime, however he received the greatest enjoyment when he was among family and friends. He also enjoyed traveling, gardening and woodworking.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Autumn Village Nursing Home for the outstanding care and love that was given to Tom during his final days.
The funeral will be held on Friday, May 17th from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM in Saint Joan of Arc Church 570 Lincoln Street. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to calling hours on Thursday, May 16th from 5 to 8 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Saint Joan of Arc Building Fund, 570 Lincoln Street Worcester, MA 01605.
