Donilda M. (Primard) Berry, formerly of Holliston, died on May 14, at the age of 92, surrounded by her family. "Don" was born in Plattsburgh NY and was the youngest of nine children, all of whom have now passed.
She was an RN and served in that capacity during WW II in Alaska, where she met and married fellow officer LeRoy "Doc" Berry on May 16, 1945. They were long time residents of Holliston.
Don was famous for her vittles; her carrot cake and homemade raspberry jam were legendary. You knew you were in the "inner circle" if you were given a jar of jam to take as you were leaving her home. She enjoyed trips to upstate NY, vacationing in the lakes region of NH and Sebago Lake ME, and playing cards. She also enjoyed canning, her pets (especially her cats), crossword puzzles and music.
She was known as someone who was always willing to help w/any worthy cause, had a kind word for everyone, was generous to a fault, and someone who always made you feel welcome w/a healthy dose of "Primard" hospitality.
She was pre-deceased by husband, Dr. LeRoy E. Berry, and her daughter, Karen.
She is survived by her two sons, Michael Tatarian Berry, and his wife Jackie of Westford MA, and Bradley K. Berry of S. Paris ME; her loving grandchildren, Tyler Berry, Elisa Berry, Brandon Berry, Justin Berry, Tanya Deanis, Clayton Berry, and Jessica Toner Haarer; as well as four great grandchildren. Don is also survived by a large extended family, including many beloved nieces and nephews.
The Berry family would like to extend their special thanks and gratitude to the staff at the Life Care Center {littleton MA}, for the kind, compassionate and quality care Mrs. Berry received during her 3 year stay with them.
A memorial service for family friends and relatives will be held on Monday, May 20, 2013 at 11:30 am, at the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway, MA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Holliston Food Bank @ 23 Water St., Holliston, 01746.
