Obituary

JoAnn Stroud passed away on May 13, 2013 with family at her side.

She was born on February 22, 1939 in Detroit, Michigan and raised in Beloit, Wisconsin. After high school graduation she attended St. Mary's college for 3 years where she received her college degree in Nursing. She moved to California in 1977 and lived in Rolling Hills Estates where she met and later married her future husband who worked for TRW.

JoAnn was passionate about helping people which led to her career in nursing. She loved to read, knit and enjoyed her daily outing to the Coffee Bean in Ventura.

JoAnn was a career professional nurse. She retired from Kaiser Hospital in Harbor City, California. After marrying she moved to Ventura where she lived at Faria Beach. She continued working at St. John's Pleasant Valley Hospital in Camarillo for several years and later Hospice.

JoAnn's children were successful and prominent college tennis players on the national scene. Her daughter played at Arizona State University. Her son Eric played for the University of Southern California and played on the 1984 U.S. Olympic team in Los Angeles.

JoAnn is survived by her most loving husband, Harrison Stroud; daughter Krista & husband Tony and her granddaughters Caitlyn and Ashley, and son Eric. Other survivors are her brother Jon and Kaaren Guenther in Middleton, Wisconsin; brother Larry and Jan Guenther in LaGrange, Illinois; sister Janer and Christopher Spears in Forest View, Illinois and their familiesl Uncle Jim and Bernice Connor in Oregon, Wisconsin; Aunt LaVonne Chappell in Plymouth, Wisconsin and all of their families. Survivors from the Stroud family are step-children Susan and Richard Kentro in Santa Barbara, Calif., Linda and Norman Pick in Vista, Calif., Dan & Julie Stroud in Pt. Loma, Calif., Jack and Rita Stroud in Burbank, Calif., Alan and Katherine Stroud in Westminster, Colo. and their families. Also her very special friend Wendy Suarez.

Donations may be made to a charity of ones choice. Arrangements under the direction of the Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Home & Cremation Service 757 E. Main Street Ventura.
