Virginia S. Ball, 87, of Rockport, MA died Sunday, May 12, 2013 at the Den-Mar Nursing Home in Rockport, MA surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 18, 1926 in Exeter, NH, a daughter of the late Everard and Dorothy (Dearborn) Smith. Raised and educated in Derry, Ginny resided in Manchester by the Sea for over 50 years. She was a graduate of Pinkerton Academy, Class of 1944 and was very active in sports. Following high school, she played basketball for the Derry Pin-ups. Ginny enjoyed her summer day on Singing Beach, traveling, and gardening. She was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan, and enjoyed puzzles and entertaining her family. Ginny served most recently on the resident board at the Den-Mar Nursing Home.
She is survived by her five children, Steven F. Ball of Beverly, MA, Foster H. Ball, Jr. and his wife Diane of Beverly, MA, Rebecca J. Pinzari and her husband Stephen of North Easton, MA, Debra A. Russell and her husband Alan of Waterboro, ME, and Cynthia J. Billings and partner William D’Eon of Peabody, MA, eight grandchildren, Heather Pinzari, Melissa Pinzari, Jennifer Pinzari, Alexander Smith, Katherine Ball, Teresa Ball, Joshua Billings and Jacob Billings, two sisters, Jean Charland of Derry and Joanne Button of Boscawen, NH, brother-in-law Donald Ball of Derry, sister-in-law Claire Ball of Londonderry, NH, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Foster H. Ball in 2009.
There are no calling hours. Funeral Services were held privately in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Derry with burial in Forest Hill Cemetery, E. Derry, NH.
