William “Bill” Thomas Dossey, Jr. of Lenox died Sunday, May 12, 2013, at Phoebe-Worth Medical Center in Sylvester. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, May 17, 2013 in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Joseph Crumley will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Jehu Walker, Jimmy Walker, Bobby Keigans, Michael Keigans, Josh Cross and Randy T. Dossey will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 17, 2013, from 3:00 p.m. until the hour of the service at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Dossey was born on October 18, 1937 in Oglesby, Texas in a cabin in Corelle County. Bill was the son of the late William Thomas Dossey, Sr. and Sybil Videlia Chamblee Dossey. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Wilma Emert and a step-son, Jim Lake. Bill served in the United States Air Force from 1954-1958 as an ammunition specialist. After leaving the Air Force, Bill was a barber for 13 years and retired as a truck driver from Yellow Freight in 1999.
Bill’s first love was his God, his wife, his children, his grandchildren, his great-grandchildren and Christopher, his grandson that he brought home from the hospital as a newborn. This little guy brought Bill great joy the last four years of his life on earth. Bill was loved and will be missed by all his family and friends.
Bill is survived by his wife of 24 years, Pat Keigans Dossey of Lenox; two sons, William “Billy” Wade Dossey and Randy Dossey; two daughters, Catherine Nelson and Sue Lane; and six step-children, Kelly Webb, Connie Lake, Ronnie Lake, Eddie Rogers, William “Peanut” Cooper and Shay Cooper. Bill had 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
