Obituary

Dovie Iris Griner Sumner, 79, of Lenox died Sunday, May 12, 2013, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 15, 2013, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Donnie Sloan and Rev. Tommy Dorman will officiate with burial to follow in Oakey Grove Church Cemetery in Berrien County. Terrell Rutland, Bobby Drawdy, Carlton Sutton, Terrell Blanchett, Tyler Sumner and Lance Golden will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 14, 2013, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Mrs. Sumner was born on December 20, 1933 in Berrien County and was the daughter of Jobie W. Griner, Sr. and Hattie Lee Thompson Griner, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her step-mother, Aldie Griner; two brothers, Jobie Griner, Jr. and Sandy Griner; and two sisters, Ruby Cribb and Martha Gandy. She was a homemaker and a retired seamstress and a member of New Hope Holiness Baptist Church in Worth County.

Mrs. Sumner is survived by her husband of 63 years, Albert Sumner of Lenox; one son, Wayne Sumner of Lenox; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sue and Danny Crumley of Lenox and Jo Beth and Glenn Roberts of Macon; one sister and brother-in-law, Linda and George Webb of Alabama; one sister-in-law, Pat Griner of Texas; five grandchildren and their spouses, Robin and H.R. Crumley, Jr., Michelle Sumner, Tyler and Emily Sumner, April Luciano and Ashley and Brittany Sutton; and five great-grandchildren, Arinda Beth Luciano, Bentley Sawyer Sutton, Mattie Leigh Crumley, Madelyn Horton and Callie Horton.
