Yvonne Souza age 70, a lifelong resident of Provincetown, died Wednesday May 8, 2013 at Seashore Point after a period of declining health. She was born in Provincetown on July 20, 1942, the daughter of the late Manuel and Nellie (Smith) Cook. She was educated in Provincetown schools and worked locally most of her life. She had been a hostess at Stormy Harbor restaurant in 1989 and 1990. She also worked at L&A Market, which was situated at the current location of East End Market and at Riley’s T-shirt Shop in Wellfleet. She also worked at Adams pharmacy in Provincetown for 6 years, retiring in 2009. She was a lifetime member of St. Peter the Apostle Parish in Provincetown and the Portuguese Civic League.
She is survived by her 3 children, Dawn Henrique and her husband Richard of Provincetown, Carolyn Henry and her husband James of Hartford, CT and David A. Souza and his wife Diane of Springfield, MA, her 5 grandchildren, Brian and Lisa Rondeau, Michael and Jennifer Souza and John T. Henrique. She is the sister of Beverly Ferreira, Helen Grace and Chester Cook all of Provincetown, James Cook of Palm Harbor, FL. and Toni Little of Aurora, CO. She was predeceased by her sister Eva Correiro late of Provincetown. She was the former wife of the late Thomas Souza who died in 1991.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Peter the Apostle Church 11 Prince St. Provincetown at 10:00am on Monday May 13, 2013. Visiting hours were Sunday 4-7PM at the Gately Funeral Home 94 Harry Kemp Way Provincetown.
