Little Compton – Mary (Medeiros) DeSouza, 96, of Little Compton, died Sunday, May 12, 2013, peacefully at home with her family by her side. She was the wife of the late Antone DeSouza.
Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Mary (Carreira) Medeiros. A resident of Little Compton for most of her life, she had worked as a cook at the Focial restaurant in Little Compton for 33 years. Mrs. DeSouza enjoyed reading, spending time with her family and was a member of Full Gospel Christian Fellowship in New Bedford.
She is survived by 4 sons: Wallace DeSouza of Tiverton, William DeSouza of OK, Antone DeSouza, Jr. of Little Compton and David R. DeSouza of Little Compton; 3 daughters: Anne Gonsalves of ME, Carolyn Hill of Little Compton and Irene DeSouza of Fall River; 15 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Manuel Medeiros.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will be Thursday, May 16, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. at the POTTER FUNERAL HOME, 81 Reed Road, Westport.
Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Tiverton.
Calling hours will be Wednesday 4-7 P.M.
