Obituary

CHICOPEE – Mary E. (Wells) Parker, 89, of Holyoke and a longtime resident of the Harmony Homes Village in Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, May 11, 2013. She passed into Eternal Life at Willimansett Center West in Chicopee surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family and her wonderful caregivers. She was born and raised in Swanton, Vermont on August 27, 1923 a beloved daughter of the late Lucius and Helen I. (Martin) Wells and was a graduate of Swanton schools. She lived in Springfield and Ludlow before moving to Chicopee, where she lived for many years. In October of 2012, Mary moved to Saint Joseph’s Residence at Mont Marie in Holyoke. Mary was very active as an Ombudsman for the City of Chicopee and also with the Harmony Homes Village Association where she lived. Active in her faith, she was a communicant of Saint Anne Church in Chicopee. She was a longtime volunteer at the Fairview 4044 Knights of Columbus and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary, both in Chicopee. Her greatest joy in life was being a loving wife, mother and grandmother who showered her family with love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. Mary was predeceased by her beloved husbands, Patrick L. McCrory and William Parker. She leaves her five loving children, Rachel H. Levinson and her husband, Jeffrey, of Ormond Beach, FL, Judith R. Dominick and her husband, Arthur “Chip”, of Holyoke, Nancy A. Parenteau of Agawam, Larry D. McCrory and his wife, Terri, of Temecula, CA, and Diana L. Paquette and her husband, Mark, of Ludlow; her many cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren; and her two dear nephews, David Wells and his wife, Janice, of Ludlow and Sonny LaPlant and his wife, Ann, of Holland. Besides her parents and husbands, she was predeceased by her loving son, Thomas L. McCrory who was Called Home on March 12, 2012; her loving son-in-law, William Parenteau; her dear brother, Clement Wells; and her dear sister, Mildred “Millie” Galloni. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday morning, May 15, 2013, beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (the funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Saint Aloysius Cemetery, 1273 Berkshire Avenue, (Indian Orchard) Springfield, MA 01151. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday May 14, 2013, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot is located in the rear of the funeral home.
