Malvina "Molly" (Delgado) Martin, 88, of New Bedford died suddenly on Friday May 10, 2013 at St. Luke's Hospital. She was the wife of the late Everett J. Martin.
Born in Freetown, the daughter of the late Manuel and Mary Delgado, she lived in New Bedford for most of her life.
She was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
Mrs. Martin was formerly employed as a home health care worker for Quality Care. She later was a foster grandmother, a position she greatly enjoyed, at Kiddie Campus in Dartmouth until she retired at the age of 86.
She was a member of the Merchant Mariners Association Auxiliary.
Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include five children, Leonard Pinto and his wife Gladys of Winston-Salem, NC, Cynthia Chumack and her husband Ralph, Renee Stevens and her husband Michael, Tammy Martin Harris and her husband Charles, and Wayne Everett Martin and his wife Diane, all of New Bedford; two brothers, Daniel Delgado of Barbados and Manuel Delgado of New York; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Daniel Halloman and Gilbert Pinto Halloman, and sister of the late Tony Delgado, John Delgado, and Minnie Pina.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 9 AM at Our Lady of the Assumption Church. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery.
