Michael DelGenio Jr., 66, of Medway, died Thursday, May 9, 2013 at the Metro West Medical Center in Framingham.
Born in Framingham on July 11, 1946, he was the son of Michael and Pauline (Ott) DelGenio of Medway.
Mr. DelGenio grew up in Medway, graduated from Medway High School and attended Tampa University in Tampa, FL. He resided in West Newbury for 20 years until moving to the Florida Keys where he lived for about 20 years until moving back up to Medway 5 years ago.
Before his retirement, he was a member of the Teamsters Union and worked in the concrete industry at Wakefield Ready Mix and formerly at Proceq Concrete Testing.
Mr. DelGenio enjoyed gardening and loved working on cars. He enjoyed auto and go-cart racing and had won a go-cart national championship.
Besides his parents, he is survived by a daughter, Jessica Gilbreath, and her husband, Tyler, of West Roxbury, a son, Jonas DelGenio, of Keene, NH, two grandchildren: Sammy and Noah Gilbreath, a sister, Diane Lagadec, and her husband, Jerry and a brother, David DelGenio.
He is also survived by his longtime companion, Joanne Beksha Brown, of Medway.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service in the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) on Saturday, May 18 at Noon.
Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Medway.
Calling hours will be held on Friday from 5 – 8 p.m.
